Function and Maintenance for Air Filter

An air filter is used to clean the air before entering the engine through the intake manifold

Air filter function

1. Clean the air before entering the engine through the intake manifold
2. Reducing the speed of incoming air will thus save fuel consumption
3. Repel high voltage sparks during backfire
4. Take hot air from the exhaust manifold for the purpose of condensation of fuel before entering the cylinder, then combustion will occur easily.
5. Air filters have several types commonly used on most vehicles today, among them are:

• Type of oil wet
• Type of oil immersion
• Type of cartridge
• Type of foam rubber

Maintenance

1. do maintenance and service according to the time recommended by the vehicle manufacturer
2. Replace the fuel filter at the time recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
3. Open the air filter
4. check if it can be used again or needs to be replaced
5. Use water gun to service air filter
6. Install all air filters
7. For engines fitted with turbo charger, the best maintenance is to follow the instructions to turn on and off the engine as recommended by the vehicle manufacturer
